We knew that Matthew had some classes in his orphange.
Thankfully they did give the children on the first floor some education. I know he had "mathematica" but it seemed that was all he ever told us about?
Turns out he is good at math. I brought out the flash cards and he did very well. He does better at writing-- because he only knows how to pronounce his number sin Enlgish up to 12.
So we are starting school for the oldest 4. (Zachary, Joshua, Matthew & Stephen).
Zachary and Joshua are doing their math, and reading and we just started back into Weaver. (what a God send Weaver is-- I try to wiggle out of it-- but He keeps bringing me back to it and when I follow it, I am always thankful)
Matthew and Stephen are doing- alphabet practice...both writing letters and watching Leap Frog videos. They do calendary work, weather charting , number charts, color charts-
It is fun now that Stephen and Matthew are learning together. But truthfully Matthew already KNOWS all of this-- he is ONLY at the same level as Stephen because he is learning the colors, numbers and letters in ENGLISH. Once he grasps ahold of English-- he will be more with the older 2 boys. It is going to be a sad adjustment for Stephen-- HE loves having a buddy to do school with. Maybe by that time Rebekah will be more ready.
So I am doing just some workbooks around the house for Matthew but tonight I am ordering Horizon 1st grade math and Get Ready for the Code for Phonics. I *MIGHT* get brave and in January break out Sing, Spell, REad and Write. But for right now we'll stick with Leap Frog videos, Horizon and Explode the Code.
